Soccer stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have stepped up to help their countries battle the coronavirus.

Messi made 500,000€ donations each to a hospital clinic in Barcelona, where he currently plays for the Spanish football club, and to a medical clinic in his native Argentina.

Ronaldo, along with his agent, pitched in another 1 million Euros to be put towards three Portuguese intensive care units caring for COVID-19 patients.

In gratitude, the hospital in Porto will name the unit after Ronaldo and Jorge Mendes at a later date.
