An employee at the Macy’s store in Edison Mall has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The store closed at 1 p.m. on Saturday to conduct a deep clean and plan to reopen as soon as they are able. A sign posted at the store entrance which stated the following:
“March 14th, 2020
This location is temporarily closed. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please visit our neary by location: Naples or Port Charlotte”
The general manager of the Edison Mall released the following statement:
“The health and safety of our guests, retailers, and employees is our top priority. At this time, our tenants are individually following guidelines from their owners or corporate leadership, including the potential for modified operating hours or temporary store closures. For additional details, please contact Macy’s. Our already rigorous disinfectant and cleaning practices at Edison Mall will continue through the foreseeable future.”

Macy’s, Inc. released the following statement regarding the unexpected shutdown:
There has been a confirmed case of coronavirus at our MDS823 Fort Myers Edison, FL location. We are taking precautions and temporarily closing this location. For colleagues scheduled to work today, March 14, 2020, or later this week, please check employeeconnection.net or by calling 1-877-463-6337 before returning to your assigned shift.
